Define what the coated surface is expected to do
Identify whether people will stand directly on the coating, use removable mats or work around fixed equipment. Describe the activities and the movement of machines, benches or storage. A decorative coating should not be assumed to provide the cushioning or specialist performance required for a particular activity.
Separate those requirements from the appearance of circulation and support areas. If an activity needs a dedicated surface, have that requirement confirmed by the appropriate supplier or professional. The flooring plan can then define where a resin finish is suitable and how adjacent materials meet.
Review mats, feet and wheels before installation
Provide details of equipment feet, castors and mat backing materials so compatibility can be checked against the proposed coating. Explain whether items remain in place or move frequently. The relevant product guidance should inform protection and cleaning, rather than an assumption that every contact material is interchangeable.
Record equipment anchors and connections that affect preparation. Decide which fixtures must be removed and who handles their return. If future layout changes are likely, discuss the floor beneath those items and retain the installed system details.
Coordinate movement and cleaning at transitions
Mark changes between coated areas, mats and adjoining flooring. Include doors and regular circulation routes in the assessment. Any accessibility or specialized activity requirements should be confirmed separately; selecting a finish alone does not establish that the complete arrangement meets them.
Discuss how staff clean exposed areas and the spaces under movable equipment. Share the products and tools in use. Texture, appearance and maintainability should be considered together for the actual routine.
Schedule equipment return as a separate milestone
Initial walking access does not automatically permit moving or placing equipment. Confirm the selected system's requirements and plan the return route before reopening. Inspect the agreed boundaries and receive care instructions before the room is reset, so the business begins using the new floor with a clear operating plan.
