Separate the service counter from the preparation area
A customer-facing counter and the room behind it may look connected while experiencing very different spills and cleaning. Identify where drinks, grease, hot liquids or other materials reach the floor. Include the route staff use to carry supplies and remove waste.
Describe operating conditions for each zone before comparing finishes. A decorative system selected for appearance at the counter may not be appropriate for a frequently washed work area. Product suitability needs to be discussed using actual exposure rather than the general label restaurant flooring.
Make equipment edges and cleaning methods visible
Show fixed counters, equipment legs, drains and thresholds during the assessment. Identify what can move and which connections need another contractor. Preparation access beneath or around fixtures should be explicit so the estimate does not imply treatment of inaccessible concrete.
Share cleaners, tools, temperatures and cleaning frequency. Explain how water is removed and whether any spots remain damp. Drainage or underlying moisture concerns need evaluation; a new coating does not automatically correct them or establish compliance for the operation.
Plan the restart from equipment setup to service
Account for clearing, preparation, application and curing before normal work resumes. The first equipment delivery and the first full cleaning cycle may come before customer opening. Confirm the selected system's instructions for each of those milestones.
- Review floor boundaries and transitions before equipment returns.
- Provide staff with the correct care guidance for each surface.
- Keep spill handling and routine debris removal in the maintenance plan.
- Record product information for later repairs or layout changes.
